A farm, some flowers and an improvised studio Eleura Markings was born on creator Isabelle Wykes’ family property ‘Eleura Downs’ in rural NSW. ‘Eleura’ translates into freedom: the freedom to make art and explore Country. This word has significant meaning to her values and family life.
It became her dream to translate the beauty of the land she grew up on into sustainable, handmade jewellery. So in 2018 she bought up a whole batch of recycled sterling silver, a hammer and blow touch, and started experimenting in an improvised home studio. Eleura Markings was born!
Traveling and Settling
In 2020 Isabelle and her partner set off in their home on wheels and slowly travelled north into Queensland until they got to the Atherton Tablelands. The magic cool climate rainforest paradise in Far North Queensland instantly captured their hearts so they decided to pull up for a while and explore... 2 years later they are still there and deeply in love with the land and community.
Isabelle now works out of her home studio just outside of Ravenshoe on the Atherton Tablelands with her basset hound, Arnold and 2 ginger kitties. She adores attending local markets such as Yungaburra and Palm Cove monthly and hosts Silversmith Workshops whenever possible.
100% recycled sterling silver Eleura Markings’ aim is to make quality jewellery that is as sweet on the planet as possible; with use of 100% recycled sterling silver. Every item is handmade, without the use of electricity. Made slowly and consciously, every item is either made to order or in a small batch, ensuring that what you're wearing is a unique piece and that there is no wastage.
